Frequently asked questions

Yes. The app is free to download, and taking photos, making collages, sharing them in groups, and posting to the Feed are all free.

If you use the app for free, ads appear on some screens. For those who would rather not see them, we offer an optional paid plan called Plus (billed monthly).

No features are locked behind the paid plan.

There is no email address to register and no password to set. The camera and the collage editor work right away, and you can use groups and browse the Feed as a guest without any sign-up steps.

As a guest, though, your groups and uploaded photos cannot be carried over if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. There are a couple of other differences too.

• Feed: guests can only browse; posting, liking, and reacting require a linked account
• Upload limit: 50 photos in total as a guest, 1,000 photos in total with an account linked
• How long photos are kept: 90 days as a guest, 365 days with an account linked
• The Plus plan: linking an account lets you use the same plan on another device

When you link a Google or Apple account from the settings screen, the groups you created and the photos you posted as a guest carry over as they are.

In the app, open Settings, then Account settings. If you have linked a Google or Apple account, select Delete account. If you are using the app as a guest, select Delete data.

Your groups, uploaded photos, chat messages, Feed posts, public profile, likes and reactions, and other related data on our servers will then be deleted in stages. It may take some time for everything to be completely removed. This action cannot be undone. The Google or Apple account you used for linking will not be deleted.

Photos and collages saved in your device photo library will not be deleted.

It is a place to post photos you took while color hunting and see everyone else’s posts. You can enjoy it from the Feed tab even if you are not in a group.

Every week, one hunt color is chosen as the Weekly Hunt, a theme shared by everyone. The color changes every Monday at midnight in your local time. Post in this week’s color to join the Weekly Hunt.

You can also post in any of the 13 colors, not just this week’s. The Feed can be filtered by color.

To post, you need to link a Google or Apple account and create a public profile (username, public name, and so on). Tap “Post” and the app will guide you through the steps.

• Choose a photo, pick a color, and add a note if you like (optional, up to 100 characters).
• You can also post photos you posted to a group, or collages you made, straight to the Feed.
• You can post up to 50 photos per week.
• You can change the note and the public or private setting after posting, and delete a post at any time.

You can like and react to other people’s posts. When someone reacts to your post, we’ll let you know with a notification.

Posts you make public in the Feed and your public profile can be seen by everyone who uses the app, including guests. Unlike group photos, they are not limited to members.

For photos you want to keep as a record without showing them to others, turn on “Post privately” on the posting screen. Private posts do not appear in the Feed and can only be seen on your own profile.

Your public profile is separate from the display name you use in groups. The names of the groups you belong to never appear on your Feed posts or profile.

Yes. You can change it from “Edit profile” in the menu on your profile screen. A username is 3 to 20 characters long, uses lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores, and starts with a letter.

You can change your username once every 30 days. Your public name, bio, avatar, and social media account names can be changed at any time.

You can report or block from the menu (…) on the post screen or the profile screen.

• Report: lets us know about an inappropriate post. Posts that receive a certain number of reports are hidden automatically.
• Block: that person’s posts, reactions, and profile are no longer shown to you, and yours are no longer shown to them. They are not notified that you blocked them.

To unblock someone, open Settings in the app, then Account settings, and go to “Blocked users”.

You can join with a join code, an invite link, or a QR code — whichever the host shares with you.

• Join code: open the Collab tab in the app and enter the 8-character code you received (it looks like 0000-0000). Letter case and the hyphen do not matter.
• Invite link or QR code: open the link the host shared, or scan the QR code, and the app opens with the group information shown.

Either way, you see a preview with the group name, the host name, and the current number of members before you join. Enter a display name to join, and you can start sharing photos and drawing your assigned color as a member of that group.

If the host has turned off joining by code, only the invite link or QR code will work. If you open an invite link before installing the app, get the app from the page that opens, then open the link again.

When you create a group, you can choose from the following 4 play styles. The play style cannot be changed later.

• Free Hunt: Play without a quest. Draw hunt colors, share photos, make collages, and chat.
• One Color Together: Everyone brings photos of the same color to finish one grid.
• One Color Each: Each member fills their own board with their assigned color, using their own photos. Once it’s complete, they can move on to a board in the next color.
• Color per Cell: Each cell gets a different color. Everyone adds their own photos to finish one grid together.

Once a grid is complete, you can turn the photos in its cells straight into a collage.

Choose a layout with 2 to 16 cells, then adjust each photo’s position and size within its cell. Spacing, outer border, corner radius, background color and aspect ratio are all up to you.

You can also apply a frame in a single tap, and add stickers or text with speech balloons, outlines and gradients. Save a look you like as your own frame and apply it to your next collage.

Every edit can be undone and redone at any time.

When you save a collage, it goes straight to your device photo library (Photos on iPhone, Gallery on Android). No separate album is created — it is saved to your regular camera roll.

From the screen shown after saving you can share the collage to social apps right away.

Yes. On the group’s Photos tab, tap the select button, choose “Make a collage from selected photos,” pick the photos you want to use (2–16), and choose a layout. The collage editor then opens with the photos already placed.

After saving, tap “Post to group” on the completion screen to post the collage straight to the group. Check “Also post to Feed” to post it to the Feed at the same time. Posted collages count toward your photo upload limit.

Each group can have up to 300 members, including the host.

You cannot join a group that is full, but a spot opens up whenever a member leaves.

You can also be part of up to 500 groups in total, including the ones you created and the ones you joined. Leaving groups you no longer use frees up room to join more.

The limit is per user, not per group, and counts your photos across every group together with your Feed posts.

• Guest (no account linked): up to 50 photos in total
• With a Google or Apple account linked: up to 1,000 photos in total

The count is based on the photos currently posted, so deleting a photo frees up a slot again. It is up to you whether to post them all to one group or spread them across several.

If you post a group photo to the Feed as well, it counts as one photo rather than two for as long as the original photo remains. Separately from this limit, you can post up to 50 photos per week to the Feed.

To see everything you have posted across groups in one list and delete photos in bulk, open Settings in the app, then Account settings, and tap the upload count.

Photos posted to a group are deleted automatically 90 days after they were uploaded if you post as a guest, or 365 days if you have an account linked. Linking an account also extends the period for photos you have already posted. Save anything you want to keep to your own device before then — you can do that from the group photo list.

Feed posts are deleted automatically 365 days after they were posted.

You do not have to wait for the deadline: the person who posted a photo, as well as the group host and co-hosts, can delete it at any time.

This retention period applies only to photos posted to a group or the Feed. Images saved to your device photo library are never removed by the app.

Group chat messages are deleted automatically 90 days after they are sent. Save anything you want to keep before then.

If you allow notifications, we’ll let you know about events like these in the groups you are part of and in the Feed.

• Chat: new messages

• Member activity: members joining, hunt colors being decided, quests being completed, role changes, and more
• Photo deletion reminders: a heads-up before your posted photos are deleted at the end of their retention period

You can turn off chat, photo, and member activity notifications for each group and each type from “Notifications” in the group screen’s menu. Photo deletion reminders, This week’s Hunt Color, and Reactions to your posts can be changed under “Notifications” in the app’s Settings.

This week’s Hunt Color and Reactions to your posts are sent to people who have created a public profile. You can also check reactions to your posts later in a list from the bell icon on the Feed screen.
